Most breeders claim to be breeding 'only for themselves' but at
Diavolino IGs that isn't a false claim, it's the truth!
Because of that, we don't always have puppies available. Keep in mind we
own only two adult females. A good breeder needs only a very few litters
to get a good prospect to grow on, and a knowledgeable breeder doesn't need to
wait until they are almost grown up to make their decisions.
Consequently, we also don't often have adolescents available
either.
A breeder who has unsold puppies has NO BUSINESS breeding
another litter until all of the previous puppies are responsibly placed in new
homes. We feel that we are more than breeders, we are guardians of the
breed we love so much. As such, we breed a litter ONLY when we are
confident of placement of all of the puppies into homes we are proud to welcome
to our family, and ONLY when we feel a breeding would produce outstanding
puppies.
A show career lasts a couple of years at best. Our goal is
to produce outstanding show dogs that can, and DO, bless our sofas and beds as
companions for the rest of their lives as well. In order to do that, we
feel best when we have only a handful of dogs... enough to fill the couch and
few enough that they can all be on the couch at once.
