In some
countries, the most difficult Conformation title for an
Italian Greyhound to obtain is the Grand
Championship.
In
Canada, a dog is required to get at least 1 Best in Show
or Best in National Specialty Show, 3 Group 1s, and 100
points (with a BIS = 10, Gr 1 = 5, Gr 2 = 4, Gr 3 = 3, Gr
4 = 2) PLUS they have to get a non-conformation CKC
title.
The
Australian one, as of Jan 2010, they have to get 1000
points PLUS a BIS or 4 X Best in Group or 4 X 25 point
Challenges. Challenges are awarded points by 5
points for winning the Challenge, plus 1 point for every
dog of that sex defeated. The BOB dog also gets 1
point for every dog of the opposite sex as well.
They have no Specials class, only dogs and bitches, so
there is only potentially 2 dogs to get CC
points.
Canadian
and Australian GCh can take years to achieve. They
are not to be confused with American Kennel Club Grand
Championships which can be obtained in one week-end (with
the right competition!) AKC GCh titles are
definitely achievements to be proud of, but are not
nearly on the same difficulty
level.
We are so
very proud to have bred, owned and/or handled the
following Grand Champions! Posh is the first (and
still ONLY) Grand Champion IG in Canada! Wyatt is
the first (and still ONLY) Canadian IG to get an
Australian Grand
Championship!
